The Pac offers information in 8 subject categories,
with easy access to each via user-friendly browser. Among the categories are
solids/liquids, steam tables, gases and vapors, thermal properties, fuels and combustion,
refrigerants, reference formulas, and miscellaneous data. In several of these categories
there is a wide variety of sub-categories with easily accessible data in each.
Solids and Liquids
In this category, properties are listed under 4 broad
sub-categories: mechanical properties, elastic properties, composition of metals, and
properties of liquids.
Mechanical Properties - Includes: specific gravity for
various substances; Brinell’s hardness versus temperature for 9 types of steel;
mechanical properties such as tensile strength, yield strength, ultimate elongation, and
reduction area at room temperature for various classifications of iron and SAE steel;
sound velocity values in 12 materials; super alloy properties for 7 materials; various
metals properties for 21 different metals; static friction coefficients for 11 materials.
Elastic Properties - These are covered under three
sub-categories: elastic constants of 20 metals; fatigue limits for reversed bending; bulk
modulus of elasticity for various liquids.
Composition of Metals - Compositions of several
classifications of metals are included in this data base: compositions of stainless steel,
AISI steel, copper base alloys, nickel alloys, magnesium alloys, titanium alloys, and

density, viscosity at 1 atm, fluids - phase transition data and physical properties of
